STAAR is the state’s testing program and is based on the state’s curriculum standards in core subjects including reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. STAAR tests for grades 3-8 and EOC are offered in both online and paper format.

STAAR will include in the following high school assessments:

• English 1
• English 2
• Algebra 1
• U.S. History
• Biology

STAAR testing will include the following junior high assessments:

• 6th grade Math and Reading
• 7th grade Math, Reading and Writing
• 8th grade Math, Reading, Science and Social Studies

**Students who in Algebra 1 will be required to take the STAAR Algebra 1 EOC instead of the grade level STAAR Math assessment.
